Meet Dr. Julie Waters

After meeting the requirements for licensure in Texas, Dr. Julie Waters continued to be a clinician at UTSA, eventually becoming the Training Director, Assistant Director, and Clinic Coordinator, before deciding to leave for a private therapy practice.

I have loved being in private practice and have felt fortunate in the clients I have been able to work with during my 24 years there. In addition to private practice, I have also taught graduate-level internship courses in the University of Texas Counseling program and have presented on psycho-educational topics in various settings.

I have served on the board of the Bexar County Psychological Association (BCPA), have served for three years on the PTA coordinating parent education, have co-led a somatically informed anti-racism workshop for therapists, have co-led a SASPS process group for therapists during the pandemic, helped establish a long running consultation group for therapists, have served on the Board of San  Antonio Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (SASPS), and have been the President Elect then President of SASPS.

More personally, I am forever grateful for the education and growth that I have gained through many years of being in loving relationships with my husband and two, now grown, children.
